These are very different from what I usually expect for chocolate chip cookies. The overall taste and texture was much more like shortbread with chocolate chips embedded in it than what I think of as a "classic" soft chocolate chip cookie.
Chocolate Chip Biscuits
From Edmonds Cookery Book p.35
Ingredients
- 125g butter, softened
- ¼ C sugar
- 3 Tbsp sweetened condensed milk
- a few drops of vanilla
- 1½ C soft (standard/plain/cake) flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ C chocolate chips
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Cream together the butter, sugar, condensed milk, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
- Sift the flour and baking powder together and mix into the dough.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- Roll tablespoons of the dough into balls, place on a baking sheet lined with silicone or baking paper, and flatten
- Cook for ~20 minutes, until golden. Let cool for 1-2 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
